Amy is dedicated to supporting artisans who craft handmade products. While rug weaving is a centuries-old tradition now often mechanized, we collaborate with skilled artisans who take pride in their work and help preserve this time-honored craft.
Please note we do our best to provide accurate color on the listings but color can vary from screen to screen.
Cleaning and Care
To maintain the beauty and longevity of your 100% New Zealand wool rug, follow these cleaning directions:
Use a vacuum with a brushless suction head to gently remove dust and dirt. Avoid beater bars, as they can damage the wool fibers. Blot spills with a clean, white cloth. Do not rub, as this can push the stain deeper into the fibers. For stubborn stains, use a mild wool-safe detergent mixed with water. Test any cleaning solution on a small, inconspicuous area first. Wool is naturally water-resistant, but excessive moisture can cause damage. Use a damp cloth rather than soaking the rug. Every 12-18 months, have your rug professionally cleaned by a specialist who is experienced with wool rugs to ensure it is treated properly. Rotate the rug every few months to ensure even wear and prevent uneven fading. Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can fade the colors of your rug. Use window treatments to limit sunlight exposure. Place a high-quality rug pad underneath to reduce wear and prevent slipping. By following these care instructions, your 100% New Zealand wool rug will remain beautiful and durable for years to come.
*It is normal for your rug to have shedding, after vacuuming several times the shedding will eventually go away
